So, let’s get into it:

The JAMS Foundation has requested proposal ideas for their 2024 Students and Youth funding cycle, looking to invest in programmes delivering conflict resolution focused activities to reduce youth violence across the USA. Funded projects will use evidence-based approaches to increase the resiliency skills in youth ages 14 to 18 years old and in turn increase their ability to cope with violence and de-escalate violence. Requests for year-one funding may be up to $20,000, or $40,000 across two years. While proposed projects are two-year projects, decisions on funding for a second year will be contingent on first-year performance. One- to three-page initial project ideas are due January 12th, 2024.

UK Deaf Sport is seeking an experienced consultant/company to design and deliver a research project that will help to better understand participation in sport and physical activity amongst deaf people in the UK. The brief states that the research should involve as many deaf people as possible, in order to clearly identify barriers to participation and levels of awareness of current opportunities to be active. No budget is indicated for the project, and the consultant/company must be prepared to leave UK Deaf Sport with an approach they can repeat themselves annually. Proposals must be submitted before Thursday 14th December, with work expected to be completed before the end of February 2024.

Not our typical opportunity, but the University of Portsmouth are offering a fully-funded three-year PHD for UK and international students on the topic of Football in the community: Measuring the social impact of football clubs. The selected candidate will be expected to investigate ways in which the social impact of football clubs can be measured, building on existing literature, and working in partnership with football clubs to deliver thesis results and recommendations. Successful applicants will receive a bursary to cover tuition fees for three years and a stipend of circa £18,000 per year. Apply before the 19th January to be considered, with the PHD expected to start in October next year.

The South Street Green Room Foundation awards small and large grants up to £100,000 to charitable institutions working in the UK and India in the fields of health, wellbeing and education. Grants are awarded to organisations registered in the UK or India, and the variety of projects funded is diverse on a year-to-year basis. The Foundation does not have a website, and applications must be made in writing at any time to The South Street Green Room Foundation, Morley House, 36 Acreman Street, Sherborne, Dorset, DT9 3NX.
