So, let’s get into it:
UEFA have launched the EURO 2024 Climate Fund, offering grants of up to €250,000 to environmental projects run by amateur clubs in Germany. For each tonne of CO2 emissions produced in connection with UEFA EURO 2024, €25 will be donated to the climate fund. Based on pre-tournament projections, around €7 million will be made available for climate protection projects in the fields of energy, water, waste management and smart mobility. Applicants are expected to raise a minimum of 10% (but no more than €5,000) of the requested grant value. Applications can be made until the end of June 2024.
England Athletics and the other UK Athletic Federations are seeking proposals from prospective contractors for production of a powerful emotional film and management of a subsequent LinkedIn marketing campaign to support their search for commercial partners and sponsors. Despite ongoing efforts and a number of potential partner discussions, England Athletics have not had a headline / major commercial sponsorship since the end of the DW Fitness First partnership in 2020. Proposals must be submitted before 4pm on January 31st, with work expected to start in mid-February. No budget is listed on the brief.
In the UK, Impetus and the The Henry Smith Charity are looking for organisations to join their Engage Fund, which provides unrestricted funding and support to initiatives that are working towards reducing exclusions, improving school engagement and raising attainment amongst young people. Successful applicants will receive £100k in unrestricted funding per year for a minimum of two years, and gain access to Impetus pro-bono capacity building support. The Engage Fund currently has five recipients and the current open round is expected to add two more partners to the portfolio. The fund closes at midnight on 16 February 2024.
The FIBA Foundation have again launched their annual call for projects. Grants of up to $3,000 USD and equipment awards of up to 100 basketballs are available to projects anywhere in the world that help to sustainably grow, develop, and amplify the global Basketball For Good movement. In 2023, 42 projects were supported through the scheme across 35 countries. The application window closes on 31 March 2024, and applications must be supported by a letter from the National Federation of the country where the project will be implemented.
