On The Ball is a fortnightly newsletter and digital platform sharing opportunities, tools, tricks, and templates to help you unlock new income for your business or non-profit in sport.

We’ve got some BIG announcements coming over the next few months - watch this space!

This week we have 12 events, grants and/or funding competitions for you to consider. Don’t forget, only paid members get full access to the list.

So, let’s get into it:

International start-ups are invited to apply to UEFA’s Champions Innovate: Munich 2025 programme, designed to solve contemporary challenges identified by UEFA and the host city of the Champions League final. This iteration of Champions Innovate asks start-ups to consider how they can use the UEFA Champions League final in Munich to promote healthier lifestyles among local citizens and/or endorse greater participation in physical activity. Responses to this challenge can focus on either digital innovation and digital inclusivity, or on converting fans’ excitement into greater engagement in sport. Successful applicants will receive €50,000 to launch their project in addition to mentorship, workshop sessions, networking opportunities and media exposure. Applications close on October 20th 2024, with decisions made by 29th November 2024.

In collaboration with Beyond Sport and Women Win, the International Olympic Committee’s Olympism365 Innovation Hub welcomes applications from a range of public and charitable organisations to its new Collective365 funding strand. The mission of the Innovation Hub is to catalyse an ecosystem that incubates innovation in and through sport for sustainable development. Successful applications will clearly align with the mission and vision of the Olympism365 Innovation Hub (see here for further details). There are two tiers of funding, each with different maximum funding amounts: seed - for pilot/new initiatives, up to $28,000 USD for 18 months, and scale - for pre-existing/established initiatives, up to $49,000 for 18 months. Completed application forms can be submitted at any time up to October 31st 2024.

In the UK, the Sir Halley Stewart Trust has two open grant programmes, supporting registered charities and educational institutions for up to three years, delivering innovative and pioneering social, medical, and religious projects. Work can be delivered within the UK, or internationally and should focus on preventing suffering while enabling people to flourish. The small grants programme offers up to £5,000, and the Main Grants programme offers up to £60,000 (on occasion up to £80,000. The deadline to apply is on the 21st of November, ahead of the trustees’ meeting on the 20th of February 2025. At the trust's discretion, they may close the funding window early if capacity has been met, so early applications are encouraged.
