On The Ball is a fortnightly newsletter brought to you by our team at Remedy. We curate funding opportunities, competitions and networking events in sport for good so that you don’t have to.

This week we have 12 opportunities for you to consider. Don’t forget, only paid members get full access to the list.

So, let’s get into it:

The Greater London Authority is requesting proposals from organisations to deliver the Mayor's Mental Health in Schools programme. This is an 18-month initiative (July 2025-March 2027) that will enable sixteen schools across eight London boroughs to deliver long-term, wraparound mental health and wellbeing support to students. One grant of £650,000 is available to a VCSE organisation with strong knowledge and experience in mental health and education. There is a particular interest in smaller and grassroots organisations, as well as those that are majority-led by people who are Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, deaf and disabled, LGBTQ+, and women. Consortiums are also eligible to apply, as long as every consortium member meets the entry requirements. The application window will remain open until 3rd July 2025, with applications submitted via the london.gov.uk website.

The Armed Forces Covenant Fund has recently launched its 'Apart, not Alone' initiative to support serving families facing service-related separation by reducing the impact of this separation. There are two complementary programmes currently running, the first being Local Impact grants - UK registered charities and local authorities can apply for a portfolio grant of up to £300,000 towards a project delivered in a specific location for up to three years. Outcomes of the project must include reduced loneliness, improved mental health and wellbeing, and long-lasting support pathways for families, in addition to various other criteria. The programme is a two-stage application process, with initial Expressions of Interest due by 12pm on 23rd July 2025.

DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) invite applications for the Game On-Community Places to Play initiative, designed to support the creation and renovation of multi-use youth sport spaces for ages 6-24 in under-resourced communities across the USA. Grants ranging from $50,000 to $100,000 are available for building or refurbishing sport court facilities or athletic fields whose main usage will be for organised youth sports, including basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, football, tennis, lacrosse, and volleyball. Special consideration will be given to proposals demonstrating how capital projects will support youth development programming, including life skills workshops, civic engagement and leadership, workforce development, and academic support. Eligible applicants must have projects located in low-to-moderate income neighbourhoods within the programme's 10 target markets: Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Pittsburgh, and Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina. Complete programme guidelines and application instructions are available on the Local Initiatives Support Corporation website.

Initiated by The Van Leer Foundation, the Good Start Challenge is a multi-million euro global initiative to pioneer innovative solutions that improve the mental and physical wellbeing of disadvantaged parents and caregivers. This call for solutions invites applications from legally registered organisations (including non-profits, private companies, and educational/research institutions) working across Latin America (Colombia, Mexico, Brazil), Sub-Saharan Africa (Senegal, Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya) and Southeast Asia (Philippines, Indonesia). Applications must be for pre-existing wellbeing solutions that are ready for development and 'scaling up', with wellbeing relating to mental, social, physical, and financial prosperity. While up to 22 finalists will receive €50,000 alongside capacity building support, up to 6 organisations will ultimately receive €200,000 to further implement their solutions. The deadline for entries is 17th September 2025, with finalists announced in November 2025.
