On The Ball is a fortnightly newsletter and digital platform sharing opportunities, tools, tricks, and templates to help you unlock new income for your business or non-profit in sport.

We’ve got some BIG announcements coming over the next few months - watch this space!

This week we have 13 events, grants and/or funding competitions for you to consider. Don’t forget, only paid members get full access to the list.

So, let’s get into it:

Sport-based youth development organisations operating in the US state of Illinois can apply for grants of up to $100,000 from Laureus Sport for Good USA. The Illinois fund is specifically looking for organisations working on violence prevention and intervention services/ focused on creating access to safe spaces, or organisations with expertise in providing training and technical assistance on sports-based youth development program quality, healing-centred coaching/programming, and/or restorative justice practices and implementation. Proposals must be submitted before August 9th, with all funds spent between October 1st 2024 and June 30th 2025.

The ENGIE Foundation provides grants of up to 100,000 EUR+ to non-profit organisations working in the 25 countries where ENGIE group is active, with a particular focus on causes working with children and youth. There is an interest in supporting organisations working to integrate children through sport, as well as those focused on providing access to culture, education, and employment/training opportunities. The vast majority of ENGIE Foundation supported NGOs are headquartered in France, though this is not an explicitly eligibility requirement. To apply, you’ll need to submit an online application in either French, English or Dutch. Applications are considered year-round.

The fourth round of the Foot Locker Foundation Community Empowerment Program is providing grants of up to $100,000 USD to organisations across 13 US cities. Grants can be used to support new or existing programmes, or specific capital projects, that primarily support youth in underserved communities in the areas of health and wellness, education and life skills, mentoring, or career development. The Foundation has a long history of supporting sport-based youth development, and a list of previously funded projects is available via the website. Interested organisations must submit an online application by September 30, 2024.

UK Sport is for the first time inviting applications from prospective social impact partners to support their event strategy through to 2028. They expect to select at least three impact partners to deliver scalable, evidence-based social impact programmes across UK Sport’s events programme. They also hope that these social impact partners will help to improve the capacity and capability of major event organisers through partner-provided training, education, resources and recruitment/outreach activity. UK Sport will support the partnerships financially and in turn expects social impact partners to contribute to the partnership across its lifetime through monetary contributions, value in kind or a combination of both. To apply, you’ll need to contact UK sport via the email address provided on the link, and then submit a full proposal before September 9th.
