Curated funding opportunities and networking events in sport for good.
On The Ball is a fortnightly newsletter brought to you by our team at Remedy. We curate funding opportunities, competitions and networking events in sport for good so that you don’t have to.
This week we have 16 opportunities for you to consider. Don’t forget, only paid members get full access to the list.
So, let’s get into it:
Societe Generale UK Foundation is currently seeking to fund initiatives that empower and equip marginalised individuals to access education and employment opportunities, with the goal of pioneering sustainable social and economic impact. In this context, marginalisation relates to sex, gender, age, ethnicity, religion or belief, health status, disability, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, education, income, or place of residence. Primary outcomes of projects include improved aspirations, heightened levels of confidence, and enhanced mental health amongst marginalised groups. Registered charities can apply for one-year, unrestricted grants of between £10,000 and £50,000, with possible multi-year funding available following this. The deadline for initial Expressions of Interest is 3rd June 2025 GMT.
In the US, the Detwiler Family Foundation is inviting applications for its 2025 grants programme. The foundation supports organisations that provide educational and enrichment opportunities for children and youth, particularly those with limited access due to socioeconomic factors. Funding is typically awarded for projects that directly impact children through programmes, services, or technology enhancements. Grants range from $10,000 to $50,000, and are intended to support initiatives that demonstrate measurable outcomes and sustainability. The deadline for applications is 1st July 2025.
Innovate UK is seeking applications for its Contracts for Innovation programme focused on scaling community initiatives in diet and exercise. The programme offers grants of up to £250,000 to support innovative projects that promote healthier lifestyles and improve community wellbeing through sustainable approaches to nutrition and physical activity. Successful applicants will receive funding and support to scale their proven interventions to reach wider communities. Organisations with evidence-based solutions that demonstrate measurable impact on health outcomes are encouraged to apply. The deadline for applications is 30th June 2025. Full details about eligibility criteria and application processes can be found on the Innovate UK Business Connect website.
In Scotland, the Essentia Foundation is welcoming applications for its mid-sized grants programme, offering fixed grants of £50,000 to medium-sized charitable organisations with an annual income between £250,000 and £2 million. The fund supports projects that aim to improve the health and social welfare of children and young people up to the age of 25. Priority areas include supporting individuals with learning disabilities or long-term health conditions, assisting young people facing poverty and inequality, facilitating re-engagement with education or training for those excluded from school, and providing skills and training to those furthest from the labour market. Grants can be spent over one, two, or three years. The application deadline is 6th June 2025, with decisions communicated by 15th August 2025.
