On The Ball is a fortnightly newsletter and digital platform sharing opportunities, tools, tricks, and templates to help you unlock new income for your business or non-profit in sport.

We’ve got some BIG announcements coming over the next few months - watch this space!

This week we have 12 events, grants and/or funding competitions for you to consider. Don’t forget, only paid members get full access to the list.

So, let’s get into it:

First up, our friends at Remedy have launched the Sport Fundraising Summit, the first gathering of fundraisers in sport for good. The inaugural summit will bring together 200 sport for good fundraisers to share fundraising experiences, develop new skills, and connect with funders, donors, and service providers. Sessions will focus on grant-making, corporate partnerships, institutional donors, fundraising readiness and strategy, digital fundraising tools and much more. Current speakers include the likes of Comic Relief, GIZ, Laureus Sport for Good, and Dallaglio RugbyWorks with many more to be announced. The summit will take place on the 26th of February 2025, in London. There are only a few early-bird tickets left at a reasonable £225+VAT; inclusive of food, drinks and table tennis throughout the day plus a secret afterparty!

Women Win have launched the Onside Fund, welcoming applications from organisations supporting girls, women, and non-binary persons from systematically oppressed or marginalised communities. Projects should be advancing gender justice in and through sport and play to bring about social change. Priority will be given to applicants working at the intersection of disability, gender, justice, and sport in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Groups, collectives, and organisations from all regions can request one of the following funding amounts: 5,000 USD, 7,500 USD, and 10,000 USD. Organisations must have an annual income under 100,000 USD and the deadline to submit applications in English and Spanish for Phase 1 is October 28th, 2024. For applications in French and Arabic, the deadline is November 1st, 2024.

The British Olympic Foundation is currently seeking a social impact specialist agency with whom it will partner to ensure generations of children feel included in sport and inspired to stay happy, healthy and physically active. This is the basis of ‘Get Set’, Team GB and Paralympics GB’s joint umbrella youth engagement and education programme which uses the inspiration of both games to increase youth enjoyment, engagement and experiences in physical activity. Taking place over the next four years through the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Games and LA 2028 Summer Games, the British Olympic Foundation wants to take its vision further and create a fitter future for an increasing number of beneficiaries. The contract value is around £2-£2.5m over a four year period and the deadline for applications is Friday 8th November.

The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) are supporting organisations in the USA through the Gender Equity in Youth Sport Community of Practice fund. Supported by Nike, they are looking to support organisations increasing girls participation in sports programmes, and women's representation in the coaching pipeline. Organisations should be implementing a gender equity project and will have the opportunity to participate in an NRPA-led Community of Practice. There is up to 20,000 USD available for up to 10 organisations, and the project will run between January and August 2025. An informational webinar will be held on the 22nd of October and the deadline to apply is the 8th of November.

The latest Fundraising in Sport Survey has just been launched, collecting anonymised data and insights on fundraising performance and practices amongst organisations using sport for good around the world. The survey features 16 questions and will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Remedy and partners including Laureus Sport for Good and Common Goal will analyse and share these insights with the sector early next year, helping to inform the design of tools and resources produced by funders and partners. Everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a prize draw with the opportunity to win one free entry to the aforementioned Sport Fundraising Summit.
